DUI probation costs: the monthly supervision fee nobody quotes you
Most DUI sentences include probation (called community supervision in Texas), and supervision is not free — it is billed monthly, by statute, for the entire term. It is one of the few DUI costs that arrives as a recurring bill, and over a two-year term it quietly totals more than many fines.
The statutory monthly fees
| State | Monthly supervision fee | Authority |
|---|---|---|
| Texas | $25 – $60 / month | The judge sets the fee inside this statutory band for every defendant on community supervision; it may be waived or reduced for financial hardship. Tex. Code Crim. P. art. 42A.652. |
| Florida — misdemeanor probation | Not less than $40 / month | County-court misdemeanor probationers must contribute at least $40 per month, as set by the sentencing court, to the entity providing supervision. Fla. Stat. § 948.09(1)(b). |
| Florida — felony probation | ≈ $103.72 / month (published rate) | The court sets the amount up to the actual cost of supervision under § 948.09; the Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision publishes Florida's felony supervision rate at about $103.72 per month. |

What the term does to the total
| Term | At $40/mo | At $55/mo | At $60/mo |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 months | $480 | $660 | $720 |
| 24 months | $960 | $1,320 | $1,440 |
| 36 months | $1,440 | $1,980 | $2,160 |
The $55 column is not hypothetical: an administrative order of Florida's Twelfth Judicial Circuit sets Manatee County's misdemeanor cost of supervision at $55 per month, plus a one-time $50 fee for on-site breath and urine testing. County-set amounts inside a state band are the norm, which is why your sentencing paperwork — not any website — carries your exact figure.
The add-ons billed through probation
Supervision is also the collection channel for other recurring charges: drug and alcohol testing fees where the supervising entity charges them, and electronic monitoring, which Florida law prices separately at up to the full cost of the monitoring service (§ 948.09(2)). The DUI program itself is usually billed by the provider, not the probation office — but completing and paying for it is tracked as a condition of your supervision, alongside the interlock where one is ordered.
A $60 monthly fee over a two-year term is $1,440 — stack it against your fines and program fees in the calculator so the recurring costs are in your total from day one.

Florida's statute makes failure to pay a possible ground for revoking supervision (§ 948.09(3)) — and in the same breath directs exemptions and written payment plans tied to ability to pay; Texas lets the judge waive or reduce the monthly fee for significant financial hardship (art. 42A.652(b)). The practical point for budgeting: the fee is adjustable through the court, but only if you raise it — unpaid balances do not adjust themselves.
Supervision fees are separate from court costs and fines, which are assessed once at sentencing. Our first-offense cost stack treats court costs as their own layer; add this page's monthly fees on top for the probation term your sentence carries.
